About GirlTalk
GirlTalk is a non-profit organization that has been working since 2004 to help girls and young women between the ages of 12 and 24.
We work daily to remind young girls of their value and talk to them about their well-being. At GirlTalk, we provide the opportunity to air difficult thoughts and feelings, but also joys and successes.
Our mission is to prevent dissatisfaction among girls and young women, strengthen their self-esteem and help those who are having difficulty.
Through free and anonymous chat and SMS counseling, conversation groups as well as psychologist talks and lectures, we help and support young girls in all the challenges and choices that come with a young life. On GirlTalk you can talk about everything - everything from bodily changes, problems with parents, low self-esteem and loneliness to suicidal thoughts, self-harm and eating disorders. In addition, we will be present where the girls are and you can therefore find us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and in our podcast.
Volunteering is at the heart of GirlTalk's work, and our heart's concern is girls' well-being. GirlTalk has approx. 200 volunteers, of whom 125 are counselors. We select our volunteers carefully so that we are sure they have the skills to handle an advisory function. Therefore, most of our volunteers are either students or graduates in pedagogy and psychology. The volunteers answer questions, advise and guide all girls who sign up for our SMS and chat advice - no problems are too small and all questions are welcome.
